Shattered

Prepare to lose your mind in award winning game Shattered, the groundbreaking mixed-reality escape room experience. Trapped in a mysterious mental health facility, your perceptions cannot be trusted. Transform your living space into a labyrinth of puzzles and manipulate objects across virtual and mixed reality to uncover the secrets of Greyvale.

My contribution

Owned core systems from the project's first day through to delivery, building room mapping, narrative and dialogue workflows, and performance tooling.

  • Supported four headset generations throughout development (Quest 2, Pro, 3, and 3S), building technology around a prediction of what VR headsets could do two or more years ahead
  • Built the mixed-reality tracking system used for portal placement, MR object placement, and spatial alignment, while providing technical breakdowns to Meta to help define what is needed to push mixed reality forward
  • Built a node-based Sequence tool used to sequence gameplay, narrative, and puzzle design
  • Developed the Cue Library workflow for dialogue authoring, playback, and localisation
  • Optimised performance to meet Meta Quest 3 store requirements, including a rendering pipeline refactor to meet the store's 72 FPS requirement
  • Built automated benchmarking and analysis tooling to inform the team and stakeholders of the state of the project
  • Contributed to motion-capture and audio integration workflows
